Particularly helpful when you have huge files. I've always worked with TMs and TBs provided by clients, so I don't have experience creating them from scratch. But what I like the most about Memsource is that it has a user-friendly interface where you have all you need during translation.

Well suited for technical texts, contracts, and general texts. Less appropriate as most cat tools for humanistic and artistic texts.

Well suited: Recurring translation projects where using a TM will help lower the cost of translation. Less appropriate: Translation that do not require a 1:1 translation and more transcreation.

I think Memsource is well suited for translations and great for beginners since it is quick and easy to use. I can basically work from everywhere around the world, as long as I have an internet connection. This is a great plus! Another big advantage is the search function, which is quite easy to use. The User interface as a whole looks simple and clear. The Preview function is also very helpful since I can directly see how my translation will be presented and re-read it for mistakes. Out of all the CAT tools I have worked with (e. g. Trados Studio, memoQ), I like Memsource the most, since Memsource is just easier to use overall, allowing you to work faster and be more productive. Another benefit is that I can decline a job from the get-go directly on the web surface, without having to inform my client. Furthermore the Instant QA feature helps save time at the end of the translation.

I really like Memsource because I have different clients using it and it is easy to switch between login and clients. I would prefer a better Preview option. Also, I need to observe character limits and would like to have an easy feature to do so, especially if a client splits long descriptions into various segments. I appreciate the Quality function to ensure consistency.

Memsource is appropriate in any scenario where you would use a CAT.

I like Memsource because when I am not home and I don't have my laptop, I can borrow a computer, log in to my Memsource account and I'm ready to begin translating. I can even download the source files and check the TM and glossary there. It's not necessary to download the software and lose time on that.

Because it's so easy to use, I'd say it's well suited for any situation where you regularly need to make translations.

For teams where team members are in different parts of the world, and different time zones.

Is well suited for videogames with several strings. It allows you to focus in each string separately and look for tags cautiously. Also, the shortcuts are really useful for games translation. Doing LQA Testing is also easy and it shows you clearly the errors in the segments, so you can fix them asap. In other translation ambits such as literary, it is not very appropiate.

I like the advanced filters in editing view and also analyzing word counts is fast and effective. It really makes my job more difficult if we need to open every single language separately and confirm the segments in editor, instead of doing it from the main site. Also users are not active if there is no file assigned to them--trouble starts when you want to assign the task to them and they cannot be picked from a drop down.

Memsource is well suited for the management of Localization projects I have not used this tool for managing another type of projects so this would be hard for me to describe where this tool is less appropriate

Memsource is a very good tool for translators who need to venture into computer-assisted translation. It is also good for companies who need to preserve the confidentiality of their materials as they can stop the linguists from downloading the translation memories and the term bases that were generated by the company.

I think Memsource is suited for all scenarios when the Preview section is available.

Well suited to a short text, less well suited to large, technical projects, where termbases are very important.

Memsource is suited when you want to manage and translate documents with a big translation team and information and data have to be shared and built together. Memsource is not suited for subtitling and localization projects as well as for companies with new clients and areas of expertise and acting coming up all the time, regarding the insertion of project database taking too long to start the project.

Memsource is particularly well suited for translating documents with repetitions and fuzzy matches, not so useful when translating documents with little to no repetitions or matches, although it can help with consistency when using the filters to search how a term was previously translated and to make sure the translation is consistent by using the same translation for the same source term, when appropriate.

For translation, it has been well suited. The problem I had was with the project manager, but they somehow solved it with the beta which is still a work in progress.

I recommend the free version of Memsource for translators processing small to middle-sized files, and would definitely recommend upgrading if the need to process larger files arise. I have not yet used the Team version, but I guess it runs with the same efficiency.

I find the system excellent for the translation of small items up to 100 words. However, where it tends to transcribe and not translate the function will need improvement - source language syntax in the translated form does not always compute.

As a self-employed translator, it has given me access to many jobs with agencies I would not otherwise have been able to take on. Overall it increased my versatility and productivity. It is very helpful in getting consistent translations of recurring phrases. I can't think of anything not appropriate.

One general issue for CAT tools is that when working with unformatted segments, one tends to lose sight of the overall picture. This sometimes results in certain translations ending up inconsistent or inaccurate simply because the context is not as immediately apparent as when translating directly from the source document. This just means more teamwork is needed to finish off the document, and this is a great feature of Memsource - reassembling the segments into a coherent document that looks like the original!

The translation of big texts with repetitions can be perfectly done in Memsource. Last time I worked on a big project with one company. The project contained about 15 documents with repetitions. Thanks to Memsource I combined these documents in one working file and saved a lot of time for translation. Small projects without repetitions can be translated manually.

I love that I can work on multiple projects in multiple languages and still have the ability to move effortlessly between them as needed.

Memsource is a great tool for managing multilingual projects as you can overview the project in the cloud very easily. If your translators use the browser editor or use the upload to server function frequently you can get progress updates which is really helpful for big projects. And you don't have to worry about translator licenses as you can create them for the translators.
